After releasing its first EP, “This Music Belongs to You,” this year, Leah Lou & The Two Left Shoes — Leah “Lou” Tater (vocals, guitar) and Daniel Lee (bass) — is looking forward to its full-length debut. “The EP is good, but it’s overproduced and just not what I was looking for,” said Tater, 22, a 2007 Mayfield High School graduate.”This time around, it’s going to be a lot more laid back. We play a garbage can and a tambourine, so all the drum sounds on it will be from us. Food Question: What to do with green tomatoes

A co-worker who had to pull lots of green tomatoes off her vine offered me a huge bag of her harvest. I’m thrilled, but I don’t quite know what to do with all these green tomatoes. Make a marmalade? A soup? Maybe a ketchup?

Have you ever made something with green tomatoes? Was it fabulous or did you wish you had waited for them to ripen? Please help.

Dr. Z and his Maple Heights amp factory rock the world of stars like Joe Walsh and Brad Paisley

Maple Heights, Ohio — Joe Walsh, Steve Miller, John Fogerty, Brad Paisley and a bunch of other big-name guitar slingers should be really glad that the heavy tube amps of the 1960s made basement-band guitarists reluctant to haul ‘em around more than absolutely necessary.

In the weekend-warrior band world, then as now, practice almost always was in the basement at the drummer’s house. After all, he’s got the most gear, and his setup and tear-down time would seriously eat into rehearsal minutes otherwise.

So when teenage drummer Michael Dominic Zaite, inspired by the Beatles and Ed Sullivan, launched his high school band in the ’60s, the guys met in his Garfield Heights basement.
