Cruise or dance in to MainStreet Rockville
Again this summer, MainStreet Rockville will offer their Cruise-In Street Dance, combined again this year with the Motorcycle, Scooter and Bike Show.
Festivities are planned from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday on the courthouse square in Rockville. Registration will begin at 3 p.m., with a $6 entry fee for each entry.
Dancing will begin at 5 p.m. with music provide by Chameleon Entertainment. The People’s Choice Awards and the 50/50 Drawing will take place at 8 p.m.
This marks the 20th year for the Cruise-in and Street Dance, which has offered countless hours of entertainment for young and old alike. Cars will enter from the southeast corner of the square at the corner of High and Jefferson streets. Motorcycles, scooters and bikes will enter at the same spot and will be staged on the east side of Market Street adjacent to the courthouse.
Dash plaques will again be provided to the first 150 cars to enter the Cruise In. People’s Choice Awards will be given to the vehicle, and motorcycle, scooter or bike garnering the most votes from participants. Some food vendors will be on hand for the convenience of attendees, and restaurants on the square will be open.
This marks the 14th year for the Motorcycle, Scooter, and Bike Show. Motorcycle entries in past years included Gold Wing, Harley Davidson, Indian, Suzuki, MBW and Victory. Bikes previously entered include Schwin, Western Flyer and John Deere; scooters highlighted in the past were Cushman, Doodle Bug, All State, Salisbury and Agrilla.

Senior Center plans dance workshop
The Wabash Senior Activity Center is planning a one-day dance workshop fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 11. Dance instructors from Illinois and Indiana will be teaching a variety of line dances (dances without a partner), choreographed partner dances, 2-step, colonial contra dances, Cajun dances and possibly East Coast swing.
A two-hour dinner break is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. with the evening dance beginning at 7. Admission is a $15 donation for the all-day event. For those who can only attend the evening dance, admission is a $5 donation. The Senior Center is at 300 S. Fifth St. For more information, call (812) 232-3245.

Bake sale for Big Brothers Big Sisters
A bake sale is planned to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. To participate, people can donate baked goods for the sale or purchase donated items. The bake sale be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, or until all items are sold.

Dachshund Dash for the Cure set
The Dachshund Dash Style for the Cure is planned for June 25 at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds. Gates open at 9 a.m. Racing begins at 10:30 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Wabash Valley Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
There is a $10 entry fee for Dachshunds. Applications are available at veterinarians offices and at the Komen office.
Spectators can place a $2 bet for their favorite dog. The winning bet will receive an “I picked the wiener” T-shirt.

Pasta and Pizza Night set
A Pasta and Pizza Night fundraiser today in Joe’s Pizza at Paris, Ill., will benefit CAMA Teens.
From 4 p.m. until close, a portion of each meal purchase will go to assist with CAMA Teens’ efforts in six high schools in Edgar and Clark counties in educating children about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
This event kicks off a weekend of CAMA fundraising activities, including the sixth annual CAMA Bike Rally at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Twin Lakes Park in Paris.
Bike Rally registration forms are available on the CAMA website or cyclists can register the day of the event.

The Roys bring bluegrass sound to Linton
Brother/sister duo The Roys bring fresh bluegrass/roots sounds and original songs to a benefit concert in the Linton-Stockton High School on Saturday. The Roys and their hot pickin’ band perform at 7 p.m. Special guests include Sheila Stephen and Kade Puckett.
Proceeds will help benefit the Linton Music Festival.
