Michael Vick to appear on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show

Michael Vick will appear as a guest on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” this Thursday.

CHICAGO (AP) — The NFL star whose name became synonymous with dogfighting is scheduled to be a guest on the “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

The daytime talk show host’s interview with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is set to air Thursday.

Officials with Chicago-based Harpo Productions say the interview will cover Vick’s time in prison, his work with the Humane Society and his return to the NFL.

Vick served 18 months in prison over a dogfighting operation based on his property in Surry County, Va. I

FX renews Jeff Schaffer’s ‘The League’ for third season

Western Reserve Academy graduate Jeff Schaffer, who grew up in Warren, is the co-creator and executive producer of “The League,” just renewed for a third season by FX.

FX has ordered a 13-episode third season for “The League,” the comedy series about fantasy-football friends. Western Reserve Academy graduate Jeff Schaffer, who grew up in Warren, is the cable show’s co-creator and executive producer.

Schaffer also has been an executive producer on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” currently filming its eighth season, since 2007.

Elton’s crude show falls flat

UK comedian Ben Elton described his new show Live from Planet Earth as pant-wettingly and bowel-squirmingly live.

Well he got the second part right.

Asshole, bum, poo, farting, knob, d——-, orgasm, thrush, ejaculate and herpes were just some of the words that were rolled out in a misguided attempt at laughs.

A nervous Elton, channeling Good News Week host Paul McDermott, tried to be topical with early jokes about Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott and Oprah Winfrey.

First sketch schoolgirls Courtney and Bree will remind everyone of The Comedy Company’s Kylie Mole.

Showbiz correspondent Harriet Heat was dull. A lady body builder continued that tired comedy tradition of men dressing as women.
