Idol’s Chris Medina Receives $70,000, 1% of ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ Box Office, Towards Care of Fiancée

Chris Medina, recent Idol hopeful who unfortunately didn’t make it through Hollywood week, was on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program today to discuss Idol and his new single when he received a happy shock. Medina’s fiancée, Juliana, was injured in a serious car accident in 2009, incurring serious facial and brain trauma. She has been undergoing treatments since then and recovery has been slow. Not surprisingly, the treatments are quite costly. Today Seacrest told Medina live on the air that Proactiv had agreed to donate $35,000 to the Laurus Foundation towards Juliana’s recovery. Medina, who has stood by Juliana through the entire ordeal, was practically speechless. “It’s so awesome. It’s real cool,” he said, obviously overcome with emotion. Read full post…

Newton in hospital after stress of court

EMBATTLED actor Matthew Newton was this morning rushed to hospital after developing a stress related illness.

An ambulance was called to Northside West Clinic – where Newton is an in-patient – after the star started suffering severe stomach cramping.Newton underwent tests at Westmead Hospital which revealed he was suffering from stomach inflammation reportedly brought on by stress.Lawyer Chris Murphy said on Twitter that the “stress of recent events is having a damaging effect on Matt Newton’s health”.”Northside West Clinic rushed Matthew Newton by ambulance to Westmead Hospital today.,” the lawyer tweeted.”After 12hrs he is being returned to the clinic.”The health scare comes a day after Newton faced court for violating an apprehended violence order filed by his former fiancee actress Rachael Taylor.

‘American Idol’: Top 12 boys perform

Performing live for the first time, American Idol’s Top 12 boys hit the stage.

In addition to being the big debut for the Top 12 boys, tonight also marked Steven and Jennifer’s first time as part of the live show.

To celebrate the occasion, Ryan handed Steven the Idol sign most famous for censoring profanities and told him to use it when he “bleeped” up.

After a moment of friendly banter, the contestants lined up to take the stage.
