‘The Voice’ finale recap: and the winner is…
TV Show News June 28th. 2011, 12:53amMaroon 5s Adam Levine, who was the coach Colon selected after all four vied for him, said “You OK? ” as he embraced him in a cascade of confetti. Colon was.
The show was not without hyperbole. These were “some of the most incredible performances ever seen on television,” host Carson Daly told us. Hey, it was fun, but it wasnt, you know, earth-shattering. At least for me. It was for many, many viewers. This spring fling of a show gained momentum and popularity and will be back for a second season; tryouts are happening now.
To fill out the results show before Javier Colons win was announced, each of the four finalists performed a duet with a major artist. They were:
First, Vicci Martinez sang with Pat Monahan from Train. They did his bands hit, “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me).” Not the smoothest, friendliest, shariest duet ever. Monahan looked really tall, and not particularly young, but his vocals and performance made him look like a rock star; and, by comparison, Vicci Martinez look a little like a very talented, enthusiastic karaoke singer.
Next up: Javier Colon sang with Stevie Nicks. They did “Landslide,” a ballad from her Fleetwood Mac days. Colon performed with the same composure and flawlessness hes had the rest of the show. He watched Stevie Nicks for cues, and followed without falter. “Thats one of the most beautiful duets Ive ever heard in my life,” Adam Levine said, putting down a primer coat of hyperbole.
Then Beverly McLellan sang with Ryan Tedder from One Republic. The song: “Good Life.” Beverly McLellan hit some rare sour notes, or maybe it was Tedder, or maybe it was a bad mix — they didnt blend well. It was a strange, almost bizarre match-up. Was Melissa Etheridge busy, people?
Last, Dia Frampton sang with Miranda Lambert. They did her hit “The House that Built Me.” Miranda Lambert, who got her start on another TV singing show (“Nashville Star”) before becoming a chart-topping musician, has been known, since May 14, as Mrs. Blake Shelton.
Well have more on the”The Voice finale,” so stay tuned.
